| By
joining God where He is at work, we believe He is developing
an urban church-planting model by starting small group Bible
studies, gathering these Bible studies together into our Church
Planting Center to form a church. This Center is located in
an area where 650,000 people and is the largest region of
Kharkov. People gather in community playgrounds in the many
apartment complexes, which exist in this region. In these
communities, we are doing relational evangelism and meeting
the needs of people, which allow us to build relationships
and involve them in Bible study. We believe that using this
type of model and using principles from this type of model
can help us reach other cities in Kharkov.
In the past, church-planting strategy has been
aimed at starting churches in the villages. However, statistics
show that the population of the villages is decreasing because
people from the villages are moving into the cities in hopes
to better provide for themselves.
You will join an existing church planting team
that is currently starting churches formed out of cell group
Bible studies facilitated through relational evangelism. Multiple
cell groups are combined together to form a church using a
church planting/training center as a place to become self-supportive,
self-teaching, self-expressive, self-propagating, and self-governing.
A church planting/training center called New Hope Center,
which is located in the Saltavka region of Kharkov, Ukraine,
is the hub for the development of this network of reproducing
cell churches, and it is designed as a model for planting
churches in urban areas.
In
this culture, there is a vacuum of leadership among men in
small group Bible studies and churches. Due to this leadership
void, cell group churches are not being planted fast enough
to foster a Church Planting Movement. For this reason, finding
and developing godly men is critical for the completion of
a Church Planting Movement.
Each member of our church planting team models
leadership assists in the training and development of cell
members, watches as new leaders take on responsibilities,
and leaves these leaders equipped to reproduce multiple cell
groups and leaders. Relational evangelism, developing cell
group Bible studies, and combining these cell groups together
using a church planting center, which could be facilitated
through existing church structures, to form churches is the
method of reaching these cities and urban areas for Christ
and achieving a Church Planting Movement.
Each team member participates in annual meetings
scheduled by the Regional Offices, Field Offices, and the
Baptist Union.
